Aston Villa v Manchester Utd Tip

Without RVP, the defending champions are painfully over-reliant on Rooney.

With Robin Van Persie out injured for a month and Christian Benteke enveloped by a goal drought, it’s hard to see this one being a high-scoring thriller. More likely, a game of under 1.5 goals could be on the cards at best odds of 29/10 with BetVictor.

The last three Manchester United fixtures have witnessed just one goal apiece with only the Champions League match ending at all well for the Red Devils. With Fellaini and Carrick both missing for Moyes, as well as RVP, the burden on Rooney looks huge.

Admittedly, the defending champions have a barnstorming record at Villa Park down the years but I’m no believer in history counting for much, particularly with Sir Alex Ferguson out of the picture.

The hosts have had a couple of clean sheets in a row in front of their own fans but the trouble for Paul Lambert is that the Villains have failed to find the net in six of their last nine league games. Everything points to defences being predominantly on top this Sunday lunchtime.
