AJ Underestimated At 8/1 To Score At Emirates

January's Player of the Month is very generously priced to find the net at title-chasing, but potentially weary, Arsenal.

After a gruelling night against the European champions on Wednesday, Arsenal return to action against resurgent Sunderland this weekend who have only tasted defeat twice in their last 16 games across all competitions.

The driving forces behind the Black Cats’ revival have been a solid defence and the attacking prowess of Adam Johnson. The England hopeful is a best price 8/1 (Betfred) to score anytime at the Emirates and that’s a deal and a half.

The former Manchester City winger has scored seven goals in 22 league appearances in 2013-14 which equates to finding the net once every 3.14 matches. That would suggest he should be closer to a 2/1 shot than 8/1!

Of course we should factor in the quality of opposition, but this is an Arsenal team who conceded five to Liverpool only a fortnight ago. Besides which, over the last two seasons, Johnson has scored against Chelsea, Man City, Spurs and Everton, not to mention a couple at Newcastle, so big teams don’t exactly daunt him.
