O’Neill 7/2 To Take Forest Job

Steve McClaren has left Nottingham Forest and we look at the betting for his replacement.

After just 112 days in charge, Steve McClaren has resigned as Nottingham Forest manager. In recent weeks both parties had become disillusioned with the other. The former England boss was reportedly frustrated about being unable to bring in two loan players. Whilst eight points in ten games, was not the start the board expected.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson is the 16/5 (Victor Chandler) early favourite to take over at the City Ground. Aged only 30, he is one of the most promising young managers in the Football League. Working within a tight budget, he has taken his team to second place in League One.

Former Forest player Martin O’Neill looks an obvious fit at 7/2 (Skybet); his club connection and availability make him an attractive prospect. However, he might be unwilling to work with a Forest board that have clashed with Billy Davies and Steve McClaren in close succession.

Another former player in Roy Keane 15/2 (Victor Chandler) is linked with the post, as is the recently departed Doncaster manager Sean O’Driscoll 14/1 (Skybet). A remarkable return for Billy Davies 22/1 (Victor Chandler) looks unlikely according to the betting.
