Championship Accumulator

It's crunch time in the second tier and the smart money is on backing the teams with the most at stake.

It’s the penultimate weekend of the Championship season and I can see play-off chasing Reading and Forest winning, along with relegation-threatened Millwall at best combined odds of 31/1 with Bet365.

Reading (5/4) to win at Doncaster:

The Royals have control of their own destiny as they enter the final two matches of the regular season in sixth place. Nigel Adkins is experienced at getting sides promoted and that can could prove invaluable. Doncaster are suddenly looking over their shoulders at the other end of the table after taking one point from a possible 15. They are struggling for goals at a bad time and their fate will probably be decided on the final day.

Forest (13/5) to win at Bournemouth:

It’s been an absurd season at the City Ground but, with Stuart Pearce waiting in the wings, suddenly there’s a play-off spot back up for grabs following back-to-back victories over Leeds and Birmingham. Forest fans know that Brighton come to town next weekend so a victory here could be vital. The Cherries only have a couple of points fewer, but at this stage that’s huge and Bournemouth’s season is effectively over.

Millwall (3/1) to win at QPR:

A fascinating London derby is in prospect at Loftus Road when Ian Holloway returns to his old club. QPR are just spinning their wheels waiting for the play-offs to start but for Millwall a six game unbeaten run (W3 D3) has made the great escape from relegation more likely than not. The interesting thing is here is that all the Lions’ recent wins have come away from home and against sides much higher up the table (Forest, Wigan and Boro).
