Norwich v Liverpool Tip

Liverpool have won 35% of their league games, but are close to evens to win away from home. The odds just don’t stack up.

You know your season isn’t going well when a home defeat to West Brom barely registers a murmur. Unfortunately, that is what happened at Anfield last weekend, after Liverpool slumped to their 12th league defeat of the season. It has got to the stage where pundits are so bored of analysing Liverpool’s decline that it’s not even mentioned.

Cup runs have papered over the cracks because the statistics don’t make for pretty reading. Liverpool have won just 12 of their 34 Premier League games, with only three of those victories coming in 2012. They include a 90th minute winner against Blackburn, victory over a weakened Everton side and the customary thrashing of whipping boys Wolves.

Even with the huge weight of evidence, the bookmakers make Liverpool 21/20 (Paddy Power) favourites to beat Norwich. It just doesn’t make any sense.

The Canaries are only three points behind Liverpool, albeit having played a game more, and they keep picking up points at home. Apart from West Brom, the only other teams to win at Carrow Road are four of the current top five in the league.

All the value lies with the home side and at 3/1 (BetVictor) a Norwich win looks the best bet.
