Next Chelsea Manager Odds

Chelsea have sacked Roberto Di Matteo after a poor run of results. Rafa Benitez is favourite to take over.

It didn’t take long for Roman Abramovich to wield the axe at Stamford Bridge. Defeat in Turin means Chelsea’s Champions League title defence is in the balance. Needing other results to go their way, they are 5/2 (Stan James) to qualify for the knock-out stages.

It’s been a miserable 30 days for Robert Di Matteo who has seen his side win two of their last 8 matches in all competitions. A similar run of form cost Andre Villas-Boas his job; he won just three out of 12 league games prior to his sacking.

Rafa Benitez is the 10/11 (Blue Square) favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge, but beware that he held the same position in the market in March. Pep Guardiola would be Abramovich’s ideal candidate at 7/2 (Stan James) but will need to be tempted away from his sabbatical.

Harry Redknapp features prominently in the betting at 6/1 (Betfred) purely down to his availability. The value might be found at the bottom of the market with the likes of Gus Poyet and Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa interesting contenders, both at 100/1 with BetVictor.
