Middlesbrough v Leicester: Anytime Goalscorer Tip - Chris Wood

This 21-year-old fired a total of 22 goals for 2 different clubs last season and Boro ended the season abysmally.

Middlesbrough fans must enter the new season with a certain sense of dread after watching their side crumble in the second half of the last campaign. The Teesiders slid from 3rd to 16th in the table after a dismal run of just three wins in 21 outings.

Chris Wood was the joint fourth highest goalscorer of 2012-13 in the Championship and he looks a good price at best odds of 9/5 (PaddyPower) to score anytime against Boro on Saturday.

Still only 21-years-old, Wood proved his eye for a goal with two clubs last season by first scoring 11 times in 19 loan appearances for Millwall before adding another 11 for Leicester, for whom he signed permanently from West Brom.

Interestingly, the New Zealand international had more shots on target (58) than either Glenn Murray or Jordan Rhodes last season (both 57), the two highest scorers, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him cause havoc again in 2013-14. He may start doing so at the Riverside Stadium.
