Manchester City v West Brom Tip

You probably don’t want games coming thick and fast while trying to come to terms with a Premier League title slipping away, but that’s how it is for Manchester City. The swashbuckling football of early season is long gone and we should consider the betting consequences.

Mancini’s boys are still priced up at 3/10 (Bet365) to beat WBA at the Etihad on Wednesday and to a large extent that is fair enough. Almost all the problems have come away from a ground that arguably remains the biggest fortress in the country. City have a record of 15 wins and a draw from 16 played at home in the Premier League. Certainly title winning statistics.

But the Citizens are no longer winning matches with anything to spare - home or away. In their last seven fixtures across all competitions the outcome has always been either a draw or decided by a solitary goal one way or the other. With this in mind I think there’s excellent value in taking Man City to win by 1 goal at best odds of 10/3 with Ladbrokes.

West Brom should be no match for their hosts in theory, but they arrive in better spirits. Hodgson’s troops come in off a 3-0 home success against Blackburn, though they’ve still taken more points on their travels this season. They lost by the odd goal at Spurs and Chelsea and I think it could be the same story against another one of the big sides.
