Manchester City v Chelsea: Scoreline Tip

Both keepers could have a busy night

It's brave. But look at these big game statistics before ruling out a high score.

The one thing we can say about the matches involving the top teams this season is that they have normally produced goal-fests. Here are the scores from matches so far contested between teams currently in the top five.

Man Utd 1 Man City 6
Man Utd 3 Spurs 0
Man Utd 8 Arsenal 2
Man Utd 3 Chelsea 1
Spurs 0 Man Utd 3
Arsenal 1 Man Utd 2
Chelsea 3 Man Utd 3
Man City 3 Spurs 2
Man City 1 Arsenal 0
Spurs 1 Man City 5
Chelsea 2 Man City 1
Spurs 2 Arsenal 1
Spurs 1 Chelsea 1
Arsenal 5 Spurs 2
Chelsea 3 Arsenal 5

In 15 matches there have been 71 goals at an average of 4.73 per fixture. On Wednesday we have a Chelsea team who are scoring freely at the moment but still conceding a fair few. They’ll face a Manchester City side who will need to keep pushing for victory any time they are behind or level. It just sounds like another recipe for goals.

The relevance of all this concerns our scoreline tip. Having already predicted a score draw, the statistics suggest there must be immense value in aiming at the high end of that particular market. A 2-2 score is a 14/1 shot with Coral but if we get really brave and go for 3-3 then the odds fly out to 66/1 with Boylesports.

When you consider that all the matches involving the top teams have averaged nearly five goals a game this doesn’t look too absurd. The value is there, and we can put on our half point knowing we aren’t as crazy as it may at first seem!

0.5pt Scoreline: 3-3 66/1 with Boylesports
