Man City v Reading: Jimmy Kebe

Reading’s star performer against Arsenal. Scored one and was a constant goal threat.

After suffering a mauling at the hands of Arsenal, the bookmakers give Reading no chance for their trip to the Etihad. Odds of 20/1 (BetVictor) on an away win is about as big as it gets in the Premier League.

The bookmakers might have written off Brian McDermott’s men but there are some reasons for optimism. After a month on the sidelines Jimmy Kebe returned to Reading’s starting line-up against Arsenal and was comfortably their best player. A constant threat dribbling from the right of midfield, he capped a fine individual display with a goal.

Manchester City will be tough to break down at home, but Reading have scored two goals against Chelsea and Arsenal this season, plus three against Man Utd to suggest they are not overawed against the big teams.

With City often exposed down the flanks because David Silva and Samir Nasri are not the strongest defensively, Jimmy Kebe should be a good outlet for Reading. Bouyed by his goal against Arsenal, the Mali international looks good value to open the scoring at 28/1 (Bet365). Back him each-way and get 1/3 odds if he scores anytime during the match.
