Liverpool v Wigan Tip

Side-by-side in the table and the Latics took four points off the Reds last season. The odds don't reflect any of this.

Week after week we see the value in backing against Liverpool - unless they’re playing Chelsea obviously! This time the Reds are 9/20 (BetVictor) to beat Wigan whereas I’d much rather take the 17/10 (PaddyPower) in the double chance market on either the draw or an away win.

The usual logic applies. The two teams are fairly evenly matched with only one point and one position separating them in the table. But what about home advantage I hear you cry? Well, Liverpool continue to be no more potent at Anfield (W1 D3 L2) than they are on their travels (W1 D3 L1). Furthermore, the Latics have claimed two of their three victories this season away from the DW Stadium - most recently on their last day out at Spurs. A better team than Liverpool.

In 2011-12 Roberto Martinez’s side took four points off the Merseysiders. It was 2-1 to the visitors when they clashed at Anfield in March. We don’t even need a repeat of that to enjoy another decent payout on Saturday.
