Arsenal v Chelsea Tip

This is a tournament that Wenger has never won while his counterpart has done so twice.

Tuesday’s Capital One Cup clash between two of London’s heavyweights promises to be a diluted affair with squad rotation the order of the day on both sides.

Jose Mourinho has been quick to criticise the fixture list with this game arriving little more than 48 hours after Chelsea’s showdown with Manchester City. However, with both managers poised to field the reserves it really matters more who has the greatest strength in depth at their disposal. Currently, that ought to be the Blues.

Arsenal have quite a lengthy injury list with Walcott, Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diaby and Flamini all unavailable, limiting Wenger’s options, particularly in midfield.

Contrast that to Chelsea who can bring in Mata, Mikel, Essien, Willian or De Bruyne in midfield. It’s really an embarrassment of riches for Mourinho and that’s before you mention the likes of Luiz, Eto and Ba. At best odds of 9/5 (Bet365) the visitors are worth favouring.
