Leicester don’t need a cup run to clutter their already busy schedule whilst Conte looks for a reaction after the Liverpool loss.
Picking the winner in EFL Cup matches is often about motivation and I can’t see the incentive for Leicester beyond professional pride. With a Premier League title to defend and the Champions League to focus upon what really is the point of a run in the EFL Cup?
Claudio Ranieri might not admit it but with a squad adjusting to playing twice a week, the last thing he needs is a cup run.
Chelsea on the other hand don’t have the distraction of Europe and Antonio Conte will be looking for a reaction after their defeat to Liverpool. Playing on Friday night also gives them an extra day’s rest and time to prepare for this evening’s encounter.
With the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Michy Batshuayi all pushing for starts, an away win at 11/10 (Betfred) is the play.
