Final Day Accumulator

Gone but not forgotten

The Premier League signs off on Sunday and I expect the top two to end in style while a bickering Stoke team should also be beaten.

The final day of the 2012-13 season is an extraordinary one with the top three teams all saying goodbye to their managers. For the Manchester clubs in particular, the fans will be full of sorrow, as Ferguson and Mancini depart. It’s hard to imagine that either team will go out without victory.

United head to the Hawthorns to a play a spirited West Brom outfit who have over-achieved under the stewardship of Steve Clarke. However, to get evens money on Sir Alex Ferguson winning his final game as a manager feels like a bargain.

The champions could reach 91 points, which would equal their highest ever tally in the Premier League era. It would also be a club record 29 league wins in a season. Don’t think for a minute that Ferguson won’t be aware of all this. I can’t see WBA standing in the way of what feels like destiny.

The mood at the Etihad will also be lively in honour of Mancini. Many feel that the Italian shouldn’t have been sacked and the natives will gather to give him a fitting tribute even if the man himself isn’t there. Norwich have survived and can relax but they do tend to get spanked when these sides meet. It could easily happen again.

So having plumped for the top two, we only have to side with Southampton in addition to set-up a best price 7/2 accumulator with BetVictor. They face a Stoke team who seem to be in end-of season turmoil thanks to ‘pig-gate.’

The fall-out of Kenwyne Jones finding a pig’s head wrapped inside his clothes as part of a training ground ‘prank’ continues. The 28-year-old responded angrily and smashed his team-mate Glenn Whenlan’s car windscreen in. It turns out that Whelan was an innocent party so Jones then had to apologise to him.

Tony Pulis will of course play this all down, but disharmony in the Potters’ ranks must be inevitable at this moment in time. A Stoke team short on togetherness is not one you would back at St Mary’s Stadium where Southampton have become potent in recent months.
