Everton v Sunderland Tip

The statistics suggest that this is the biggest attacking mis-match in any of Europe's top five leagues.

Everton are a best price 6/4 (Ladbrokes) to win to nil against Sunderland and statistically it looks like a great prospect. The attacking prowess of the two teams could hardly be more contrasting.

The Toffees have attempted 200 shots on goal so far this season, more than any other team in any of Europe’s big five leagues. On the other hand, only one side (Fortuna Dusseldorf) have hit fewer shots than the meek Black Cats (78) across the continent’s top five divisions.

Martin O’Neill’s men have managed a frankly pathetic 12 shots on target thus far. That’s at least 21 fewer than the next worst in the Premier League (Villa & Reading 33). And the problem is only getting more acute for the Mackems. The only time they have found the net in the last five outings across all competitions was courtesy of a Demba Ba own goal.

You would think things must improve for Sunderland sooner or later, but I’m thinking later is more likely. David Moyes’ Blues have been playing some fantastic football and only drawing lately; it should be three points and a clean sheet on Saturday.
