This local derby has all the ingredients for controversy.
In what looks sure to be a combustible London derby, WilliamHill offer us best odds of 4/1 on there being a sending off in the match.
The John Terry - Anton Ferdinand saga rages on and the cancellation of the pre-match handshakes tells its own story. Factor in that QPR are only one red card away from a Premier League record of nine dismissals in a season and this looks a sound value bet.
Furthermore, as the pressure of the relegation battle has mounted, the frequency with which Mark Hughes’ side have finished with 10 men has increased. The Hoops have had a player sent for an early bath in six of 16 top flight matches in 2012 -a whopping 38% of the time.
And Chelsea are no angels either. In the reverse fixture at Loftus Road it was Andre Villas-Boas’s side who lost their discipline; Boswinga and Drogba were given their marching orders as the Blues lost with nine men. John Terry was centre of attention for the wrong reasons again in midweek for seeing red against Barcelona.
All and all, this match looks like a referee’s nightmare, but we can take advantage of some generous odds on further controversy.
