Chelsea v Blackburn Tip

16 league goals in 2011-12.

The joint-fourth top scorer in the PL despite his side's woes. A distracted Chelsea could allow him to add to his tally.

The cotton wool will be out in force at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as Chelsea simply look to come through their final Premier League match unscathed. The Champions League finalists will finish sixth in the table no matter the outcome so it’s hard to envisage a motivated team.

Of course the same could be said of Blackburn who sealed their own relegation fate on Monday with a home defeat against Wigan. But it’s just possible that they will find a little more fight for the club’s final top flight game. We can look to the example of Wolves - two draws since they were officially sent down - to see that struggling teams can sometimes feel unburdened by confirmation of the inevitable.

It would be nice to think that Rovers would want to go out on a high, but from a more cynical perspective, these players are in the shop window now, and several of them will simply be wanting to impress another Premier side.

All this leads me to see value in backing Yakubu at a best price of 4/1 (Ladbrokes) in the anytime goalscorer betting. ‘The Yak’ has bagged an impressive 16 league goals for a side at the bottom and he could sign off for the season in style, at least on a personal note.

The 29-year-old has found the net against Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool this season - so why not against a disinterested Chelsea?
