Chelsea 'Man Up' in Champions League
Respite for Carlo Ancelotti as his Chelsea team have thier odds trimmed for Champions League glory.
Two Nicolas Anelka goals ensured Chelsea cruised to a 2-0 victory over FC Copenhagen in Denmark. The win all but guaranteed progression to the next round. Bookmakers reacted by clipping Chelsea’s odds to win the Champions League; the best price available is 5/1 in from 11/2.
The match also served to relieve some pressure from manager Carlo Ancelotti. Skybet think the result has kept him in a job and the bookmaker go 4/7 that he lasts the season.
In the other Champions League game, a late Bafetimbi Gomis goal rescued a draw for Lyon at home to Real Madrid. The goal was enough to keep the French side in the tie but Real remain unchanged at 9/2 second favourites for the Champions League.
