Chelsea have Ancelotti Problems

Carlo Ancelotti says he won't quit but will he be sacked? The bookmakers are worried for him and have already drawn up a list of replacements.

With the FA Cup gone, only the Champions League remains for Chelsea. The only realistic chance of silverware happens to be the one piece that has always eluded them.

The newspapers today are filled with quotes of Carlo Ancelotti saying he won’t quit. And why would he, when the payout for being sacked is so much greater. The better question is; if or when he will be sacked. Skybet go 11/10 that Ancelotti doesn’t last the season, everything depends on how long he can drag out the Champions League campaign.

Of more interest is whether he will be around next season. William Hill go 5/6 that he isn’t. Considering Avram Grant got to a Champions League final and still lost his job the omens don’t look good.

Paddypower and Skybet have already started betting on Chelsea’s next permanent manager with some disagreement over who is the favourite. Paddypower go 9/4 that Guus Hiddink gets the job, but Skybet have Pep Guardiola as 4/1 favourite. Martin O’Neill is next best at 9/1 but it is unlikely he would work well with Roman Abramovich.

A remarkable return of the Special One is 16/1 with Skybet (only 6/1 with Paddypower). Stranger things have happened…
