Chelsea and Man Utd resume Champions League Duty

Chelsea and Man Utd will want to avoid defeats in tough away legs.

After first leg successes for Arsenal and Spurs how will England's other Champions League hopefuls fare this week?

It’s probably the last thing Chelsea need right now. An away game against an unfashionable Champions League opponent who they are expected to beat, but who are actually likely to be pretty tough. If the Blues beat FC Copenhagen, a 4/5 shot with Boylesports then nobody will bat an eyelid but a win for the Danish outfit, 9/2 with StanJames, will put Ancelotti on the brink. Copenhagen are the rank outsiders to lift the trophy at 250/1 but they are 19 points clear in their domestic league and drew 1-1 with Barcelona in the group stages. Worrying times for the Londoners as they chase their last chance of silverware.

Marseilles finished behind Chelsea in the group stages and now face Man Utd in the last 16. The French side lie third in their league, ahead of Lyon, and are regarded as slightly more troublesome opponents than Copenhagen. Marseilles are 11/4 with Victor Chandler to win their home leg on Wednesday but United are priced as solid favourites at 11/10 with most firms. Ferguson’s team will surely go into their assignment with a lot more confidence than Chelsea. Top of the league and FA Cup favourites, it’s somewhat surprising to see United still priced longer than their London rivals to lift this trophy at 8/1 with Boylesports.

In the other two midweek games Real Madrid head to Lyon as strong favourites while Inter have a glamour tie with Bayern Munich.
