Championship Accumulator

Wins for two teams in the top three and and a loss for a suddenly troubled Palace side could lead to a big pay day.

Crystal Palace have been thrown into turmoil with manager Dougie Freedman seemingly poised to depart to take over at Bolton. The preparations for the Eagles’ trip to Oakwell could hardly be worse with the Scot selecting a team who will surely be shell-shocked by the breaking news. In the circumstances, Barnsley must be worth backing at 6/4 in the first part of our Championship treble.

It’s not as if the Tykes normally struggle in this fixture even in normal circumstances. Barnsley are unbeaten in their last six at home to Palace (W4 D2) and they come in off the back of an excellent victory over Charlton at the weekend. The Londoners will also be missing suspended talisman Wilfried Zaha at the worst possible moment.

Elsewhere, I’m looking to two teams in the top three to help land our accumulator. Leicester are top of the league with a 100% home record to protect against Brighton on Tuesday. Odds of 10/11 on the Foxes seem curiously generous given that the Seagulls are winless in four and sliding down the table.

It’s a similar story at London Road where bottom of the table Peterborough entertain third-placed Huddersfield. We’re getting considerably better than evens money (7/5) on the side with the top away statistics in the division (W3 D1 L1) defeating a side without so much as a point on their own patch in 2012-13 (W0 D0 L5).

Victories for Barnsley, Leicester and Huddersfield would pay us off at combined best odds of 10/1 with WilliamHill.
