Wolf At Home In Russia
Wolfsburg were comfortably the better side in their round one meeting and home advantage won’t be enough to turn the tables.
Group B is delicately poised with all four teams mathematically capable of reaching the knock-out stages but I expect CSKA’s chances will be extinguished in the 5pm kick-off.
CSKA Moscow have four points from their four matches but they’ve been second best in all of them, bar their win over PSV and even then they almost gave away a 3-0 lead at half-time.
In terms of expected goals, CSKA have a goal difference of -1.8 compared to Wolfsburg 1.3 and even accounting for home advantage they shouldn’t be favourites.
In the round one meeting between the teams Wolfsburg were comprehensively the better side and the 1-0 scoreline didn’t do the Germans justice. They dominated possession (58%) and shots (21-8).
I expect quality will win out again and Wolfsburg are a cracking bet at 21/10 (Betfred).
