Champions League Round Up

Arsenal are 9/4 (Paddy Power) to progress furthest of the English teams. So far they are the only ones through to the knockout stages.

It was a mixed night for the English teams in the Champions League. Bayer Leverkusen came form a goal behind to defeat Chelsea with a stoppage time winner. The pressure is heaped on Andre Villas-Boas who is 5/1 (Skybet) to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post. Qualification is still in their own hands; a win or nil-nil draw at home to Valencia would be sufficient to reach the knock-out stages. In the outright betting the blues have drifted out to 20/1 (Bet365) from 12s and are 1/2 (Paddy Power) to get out of their group.

There was better news for Arsenal who qualified for the knockout stages as group winners after a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.  The Gunners are 20/1 (Paddy Power) for Champions League glory, with Robin Van Persie 16/1 (Bet365) to be the tournament’s top goal scorer. The flying Dutchman netted his second and third goals of the campaign, but Mario Gomez (9/2 with Bet365) and Lionel Messi (4/5 with Paddy Power) lead the way on six.

In the outright betting the Spanish giants lead the way. Barcelona are 7/4 favourites with Paddy Power with Real Madrid next best at 7/2 with Coral.
