Carling Cup: Latest Odds

Mackay's side are into the semis

Liverpool, Man City and Cardiff are all potentially 180 minutes away from Wembley after impressive wins on Tuesday night. Man Utd or Palace will join them in the semis.

Manchester City are 7/4 (Coral) favourites for the Carling Cup after a late Sergio Aguero winner saw them passed a young Arsenal side at the Emirates. Liverpool stormed into 5/2 (PaddyPower) for the trophy after a pretty comfortable 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. Even bigger movers were Cardiff City- 50/1 shots just 24 hours ago. The Welsh side only had to beat a struggling Blackburn team, who had several key players missing, at home, to rocket into 20/1 (Boylesports) contenders.

One final semi-final spot remains up for grabs and the bookies see it as a formality than Manchester United will become another big name in the hat. The 2009 and 2010 winners are just 2/7 (Bet365) to see off Championship Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The Eagles are 12/1 (SkyBet) to cause a major upset with the draw at 5/1 (PaddyPower). The Red Devils are 1/10 (Sportingbet) to qualify one way or another, with Dougie Freedman’ side offered at 7/1 (Boylesports) to progress.

In the overall betting Man Utd are 2/1 (Coral) while Palace can still be picked up at 80/1 (PaddyPower) despite only five sides remaining in the competition.
