Captain Marvel Revives Liverpool
David Moyes had his celebration of 10 years in charge at Goodison Park spoiled by Gerrard.
A Steven Gerrard hat-trick settled local bragging rights as Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners over Everton on Tuesday night. The 31-year-old swept in from 9/2 to 6/4 (StanJames) to be the club’s leading league goalscorer for 2011-12.
In many ways those odds encapsulate why the Reds still look like missing out on Champions League football come the end of the campaign. Gerrard only had 2 league goals to his name before last night, yet one good night at the office has immediately made the midfielder favourite to top score!
Luis Suarez (2/1 StanJames) has only managed six league goals as has Craig Bellamy (9/4). Andy Carroll (5/1) has just three for the season as all the strikers at the club have had their difficulties.
