Bolton v Arsenal

Sturridge to find the net first, at 7/1

Two teams who are hurting clash at the Reebok. The underdogs carry a significant goal threat.

This is a game where we find out how two sides handle major adversity. The highlight of Bolton’s season should have been their trip to Wembley in the FA Cup semi final; a 5-0 demolition at the hands of Stoke means they want to forget all about it, and fast. Arsenal’s travails are well documented and drawn out over a much longer period. No one league result has been catastrophic, they are unbeaten in 16, but the constant surrendering of leads and dropped points has taken its toll on the title bid.

With both teams looking for a big response on Sunday, it becomes harder than ever to predict the match outcome. Arsenal enjoy playing the Trotters - they have won eight in a row, but the Reebok Stadium has long held the capacity to spring an upset. I won’t be so bold as to tip a home win, although the 4/1 on offer is tempting, but I do think Coyle’s side can cause problems.

The big difference for Wanderers from last weekend is that they can recall in-form Daniel Sturridge. The on loan striker from Chelsea, who was cup-tied for the Stoke game, has bagged an impressive six goals in his eight league games for Bolton. Only Rooney and Van Persie have scored more in the top flight since the start of February. Sturridge was superb in his last outing, scoring twice in the 3-0 win over West Ham. In the first goalscorer market Van Persie is resistable at 4/1, with two other Gunners next on the list. With his excellent strike rate, Daniel Sturridge provides us with our value at 7/1 with Coral.
