Aston Villa v Reading Tips: Correct Score

Villa have drawn 4/6 at home and their poor record in front of goal suggests a low scoring game.

Aston Villa versus Reading already looks likes a relegation ‘six-pointer’ - except I don’t think either side is capable of winning. In 25 league matches, they have only managed three victories between them.

The two sides have drawn 10 matches this season and at 13/5 (BetVictor) the draw looks the most likely outcome. However, we can bolster these odds if we examine their records in more detail.

Paul Lambert’s problems stem from a lack of goals; his side have found the net only 10 times this season, scoring more than one goal in a match on only two occasions. With Darren Bent still frozen out, it is a situation I can’t see improving in the short term.

Reading have the opposite problem, they can score goals but can’t keep them out. They have dropped 14 points from winning positions this season; therefore Aston Villa shouldn’t be downhearted even if they fall behind.

A draw is the most likely scenario but with Aston Villa incapable of scoring more than 1 goal per game, a 1-1 correct score prediction looks the value bet at 13/2 (William Hill).
