Lowest Scoring Team Tip 2015-16

Villa only found the net 31 times in 2014-15. Take out Benteke, Delph, Cleverley and Weimann and it could easily get worse.

Aston Villa are only fourth favourites to be the lowest scoring team in 2015-16 but they look a steal at best odds of 7/1 (PaddyPower).

Even with their spring revival, Tim Sherwood’s boys finished as the joint-second lowest scores last time, mustering only 31 goals, and Burnley the only ones who fared worse are now back in the Championship.

However, it’s the loss of key goal contributors which makes this bet so appealing now. Most crucially, Benteke is gone and he weighed in with 13 league goals last season. Departed too are the supply lines offered by Delph and Cleverley while even Weimann tended to grab a few every campaign.

Of course reinforcements have come in but it remains to be seen how quickly they settle and what Sherwood can get out of this side in the long term.

With the newly promoted sides more likely to score goals than keep them out, Villa look a great option in this market.
