Aston Villa v Manchester United
The flying Dutchman is far and away the most prolific marksman in the top flight in recent years.
Manchester United have won four league matches in a row to go top of the table and Robin Van Persie is proving to be the leading man. The 2011-12 Golden Boot winner is already top of the charts again this season with eight domestic strikes to go with his two Champions League goals.
But the thing that really makes him stand out as a great first goalscorer bet is his tendency to hit the ground running. The Dutchman scored in the 12th minute in the vital league victory at Stamford Bridge. Then it took him just three minutes to break the deadlock, and Arsenal hearts, at Old Trafford last weekend.
Then on Wednesday he came off the bench in United’s hour of need to fire his side level against Braga. He had been on the pitch for just 16 minutes.
On Saturday, against Villa, he will surely be restored to the starting line-up. Having scored three in two and a bit appearances he looks a bargain for first goalscorer at best odds of 7/2 with PaddyPower.
