Arsenal’s Challenge All But Over
Defeat at Bolton has practically extinguished Arsenal’s title challenge and Skybet reckon Arsene Wenger could take the blame and lose his job.
The title contest effectively became a two horse race this weekend as Arsenal’s defeat all but ended their title challenge. Nine points behind with four games to go means the Gunners are 150/1 long shots to win the Premier League.
According to manager Arsene Wenger, the League Cup final against Birmingham was the turning point in their season. The psychological impact of that defeat started a run of form that has seen Arsenal win only two of their last ten games. Even one of those victories was an FA Cup replay against Leyton Orient. With a six point lead over Chelsea, Man Utd are 1/10 to win the Premier League. Bookmaker Betfred are so certain of the outcome that they have already paid out on United as winners. Chelsea are 7/1 to upset the odds and leave Betfred looking foolish.
In the race for fourth place, Tottenham dropped points at home for the second time in a week. After a late West Brom equaliser, Spurs are one point behind Man City having played a game more. As a result, they have been eased to 9/2 to secure the final Champions League spot.
