Arsenal v West Brom Preview

Arsenal v West Brom Preview

Arsenal aren’t in crisis but consecutive losses will have dented their confidence just as their conversion rates are due to cool.

Arsenal avoided their customary wobble in November but have instead just delayed it a month. Defeats against Everton and Man City in isolation wouldn’t be terrible but the fact they’ve come back-to-back must set a few alarm bells ringing.

All season I’ve been saying that Arsenal are riding high thanks to hot shooting and save percentages. Partly this is down to the quality of personnel and good shot locations but it is at an unsustainable level.

Alexis Sanchez is a case in point. The Chilean has 12 goals this season but averages just 3.0 shots per 90. That ranks him 27th in the league for shots from those that have made 8 appearances or more. The quality of the chance and player have some bearing but his conversion rate will cool and then what will Arsenal do?

Wenger has the squad to solve the puzzle but it might take him another game or two and West Brom could capitalise on this downturn by getting a point at the Emirates. Back West Brom/Draw in the double chance market at 12/5 in the expectation that Arsenal’s recent woes continue.
