Arsenal v Newcastle Tip

This Magpies striker scored the sort of goal at Old Trafford that can spark a run of form.

Amidst all the drama of Manchester United’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Newcastle on Boxing Day one thing was largely overlooked. Papiss Cisse scored the sort of goal that can kickstart a striker’s season. The 27-year-old lashed home a stunning first-time effort to stun Old Trafford, at least temporarily.

With the Toon Army facing another daunting trek to Arsenal this afternoon, Alan Pardew may persist with the approach that with his current injury crisis, attack is the best form of defence. And, if the Magpies do create chances for their front two, they are both capable of finding the net.

Demba Ba (11/4 Bluesquare) has been excellent all season, but at 7/2 (BetVictor) in the anytime goalscorer market, I have a sneaky feeling that Cisse may do the business again.

It’s easy to forget that the former Freiburg star was being heralded as one of the best ever Premier League signings only a few months ago. He scored 13 goals in 14 league appearances for Newcastle in 2012-13 and perhaps he has just discovered that touch again as we reach the turn of the year.
