Arsenal v Bayern Munich: Odds and Analysis

History actually favours the Gunners, at least at home. We study the form on a big night of Champions League football at the Emirates.

Arsenal:

To win home leg: 10/3 WilliamHill
To progress: 3/1 Bluesquare
To win Champions League: 40/1 StanJames

Group Stages: W3 D1 L2 Pts 10
Current PL position: 5th
League form: WWDWLL

Verdict: The Gunners just can’t stop taking one step forward and two steps back. The latest slip was a defeat at home to Blackburn in the FA Cup having already exiting the League Cup to Bradford. However, some of the recent top flight form has been good and they have only ever lost 2 of 17 home knockout games in the Champions League. Beat Barcelona and Milan in the home legs at this stage over the past two seasons.

Bayern Munich:

To win away leg: 37/40 BetVictor
To progress: 2/7 Bet365
To win Champions League: 6/1 Ladbrokes

Group Stages: W4 D1 L1 Pts 13
Current Bundesliga position: 1st
League form: WWWWWD

Verdict: Any team that can be 15 points clear of an excellent Dortmund outfit in the Bundesliga must be a bit special (W18 D3 L1). Last season’s CL finalists have won 5 on the bounce domestically without conceding a goal. Strong enough to often leave the likes of Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben on the bench, but history shows they have lost their last 4 trips to England in this competition.
