Ancelotti Under Pressure

Carlo Ancelotti under pressure

With the title almost certainly out of reach, rumours abound that Carlo Ancelotti will be replaced as Chelsea manager.

If press speculation is correct then Roman Abramovich is considering sacking Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season. The betting reflects this with William Hill going 8/13 that the Italian is not in charge of the first game next season.

According to the Daily Telegraph Guus Hiddink is wanted for the job but his availability depends on Turkey’s chances of qualifying for Euro 2012; the team he currently manages. The Russian billionaire is 4/1 to get his man and for Hiddink to be the next permanent Chelsea manager.

Amongst other names being speculated is Porto’s young manager Andre Villas Boas. After winning the Portuguese title with five games to go and reaching the Europa Cup final, his stock is sky high. He is 12/1 to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Favourite in the betting is another Portuguese manager who Chelsea fans might be aware of. Having always stated that he would like to return to England, Jose Mourinho is 7/2 favourite to be the next Chelsea manager. Short odds for a man who famously fell out with the club’s owner. It will be interesting to see if the two protagonists decide to bury the hatchet.
