6 Nations: Scotland v Wales Betting

Wales have won seven of their last eight meetings with Scotland but the bookies aren't concerned.

After last week’s Grand Slam tip was felled in the first game you might think i’m a glutton for punishment tipping Wales again - but hang on, there is logic.

Every week the pundits focus on Wales’ stretch without a win (now at eight) but other than the poor performance against Fiji these matches were against the best teams in the world. True the players may have lost the happy knack of winning but they have been competitive in every game without getting the luck. Last week both England tries were scored when they had a man advantage, first when Morgan Stoddart was receiving treatment and then when Craig Mitchell was harshly sin-binned.

Scotland on the other hand were flattered in Paris. The Scots came into the game during the second half after Marc Lievermont shuffled his pack, the game was over as a contest at this stage. Mindful of three consecutive away games the French rightly focussed on conserving their energies for tougher challenges ahead.

The bookmakers seem happy to kick Wales whilst they are down and make Scotland favourites for the game, but how many remember that Wales have won seven of their last eight meetings with Scotland? Hopefully none. We wouldn’t want the bookmakers to get their odds correct two weeks in a row.
