Bookies Blind to Picamoles Magic

Scored two tries and no one had more clean line breaks in the 2013 Six Nations. Would have been a winning bet last year.

Betting on the Six Nations top tryscorer market can be a lot of fun. The winner usually scores in excess of four tries but the place market is wide open.

Last year a paltry two tries would have been enough for a tie in second place, which opens up the entire field for an each-way bet.

Of the fancy prices, Louis Picamoles is my first selection at 80/1 (Betfred).

The French number eight was outstanding last year, scoring two tries and finishing second in the top try scorer market.

The 27-year-old is a destructive ball carrier. Last season he carried 70 times for 351 metres, averaging 5m per carry and one clean line break per game.

The last statistic is most pertinent. Only Alex Cuthbert matched Picamoles’s tournament five line breaks and he is a winger!

The Toulouse forward carries an attacking threat on a par with many backs and proved last year he knows where the try line is. At 80/1 (Betfred) he is a cracking each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
