Show Character At Haydock

The Character returns to Haydock 26 days after running a career best, so it is strange to see him priced as one of the outsiders for the 4.40 contest.

Last time out The Character was beaten 2 lengths by the progressive Rembrandt Van Rijn (now rated 103) but he pulled a length clear of the third horse.

In defeat, he recorded his best ever Topspeed rating (81) and Racing Post Rating (89) but his official handicap mark (82) remains unchanged.

The 4-year-old is a consistent performer and a past course winner. Trainer Tom Dascombe has a good record at Haydock with an 18% strike rate (10-57) and level stakes profit with his older horses. At 12/1 (BetVictor) we have a decent value bet.
