Haydock Tips: Sole Power
Winner of the race last year and the best 5f sprinter in Europe.
The 3.00 Haydock didn’t take a huge amount of study this morning. Sole Power is the best 5f sprinter in Europe and he has ideal conditions this afternoon.
To be seen at his best he needs good to firm ground and a strong gallop, both of which he is guaranteed today. Under similar conditions, he ran out a ready winner of this race 12 months ago and the competition hasn’t got any stronger.
He was desperately unlucky not to win the Group 1 Prix De L’Abbaye when not getting a clear run and has since followed up with two second places in Dubai. The going was never firm enough for him in Meydan but a sun baked Liverpool is perfect.
The Robert Cowell duo of Monsieur Joe and Spirit Quartz can chase him home but at 4/1 (William Hill), Sole Power is the horse to back.
