Haydock Tips: Racy
Finished fourth in the Stewards’ Cup & the Portland. Top sprint handicapper who just needs a bit of luck.
Racy is devilishly difficult to win with, as his strike rate of 2/31 suggests, but he’s run some absolute crackers this season.
He finished fourth in the Steward’s Cup, best of those drawn in single figures and was only beaten half a length by Masamah when the pair met at Ascot earlier in the season; the slow pace suiting Marco Botti’s horse much more than Racy.
Soft ground has been no use to him on his last couple of outings but he still ran well under unsuitable conditions to finish fourth in the Portland.
Freddie Tylicki will have to judge his ride to perfection on this tricky horse but Racy has run well over course and distance before, so he handles the track. At 10/1 (Betfred) he can get a long deserved win.
