Haydock Tips: Mount Hollow

Ran well against a strong pace bias on his seasonal debut and not had his ground since.

We’ve not seen much of Mount Hollow this season, this being only his fourth start of the year. Connections have probably kept him away from the soft ground as the last two times he raced on it he underperformed. The going is good in the 3.40 Haydock so there shouldn’t be any more excuses.

His best race of the year came on his seasonal debut at Doncaster on good ground. A hold-up horse, he was never going to win on a day when prominent runners were at an advantage. The other horses that raced ‘held up’ or ‘in the rear’ all won within two subsequent starts to confirm the pace bias.

Mount Hollow has been storing up a good performance since that day and now he has got his ground he is a good bet at 10/1 (Paddy Power).
