Haydock Tips: Long Awaited
Finished third in a hot Haydock handicap where he split the Portland top two.
The 3.15 Haydock is a strong handicap but a key piece of form gives Long Awaited an outstanding chance.
On his last start over course and distance, he finished third behind Cheviot. The winner got the run of the race but the next three home all ran crackers from off the pace. Doc Hay who finished fourth and runner-up Face The Problem, subsequently filled the top two positions in the Portland. Long Awaited split the pair at Haydock yet he gave them a couple of lengths head-start as he struggled to find racing room.
If that form line is to be trusted, and it looks rock solid, then Long Awaited is one of the best sprint handicappers around. Heavy conditions shouldn’t cause a problem as he won at Doncaster on similar going earlier in the year.
At 7/1 (Paddy Power) he looks extremely well handicapped and the best bet in the race.
