Haydock Tips: Nocturnal Affair
Former Portland winner will enjoy the strong pace and looked good on his comeback at the Curragh 13 days ago.
The 8.15 Haydock looks jam packed full of early pace, Jiroft, Swan Song, Excelette and Jwala all like to lead or race prominently and they could set up the race for a hold up horse.
Since winning the Portland in 2011, Nocturnal Affair hasn’t exactly been prolific but he’s been running well in some hot races. He was a winner in Meydan in the early part of 2012 and finished 2.5 lengths behind Ortensia in the Group 1 Al Quoz sprint.
The second half of 2012 didn’t go to plan, perhaps he was still feeling the effects of a winter in Dubai, but he managed to finish second in a couple of Listed contests.
On his last start at the Curragh, he shaped as if coming back to form and reverting to his optimal trip, in a race run to suit, he looks a good bet at 13/2 (Boylesports).
