Haydock: Hunters Lodge

Hunters Lodge can be a tricky customer but 3m4f on soft ground looks ideal for him in the 1.55 Haydock.

Last time out at Sandown he came with his customary late run to finish sixth but I suspect neither the good ground nor the moderate early pace played to his strengths.

Hunters Lodge needs a true stamina test to be seen to best effect and he should get that today in ground that is verging on heavy. Last time he encountered such conditions he ran out a 19-length winner at Uttoxeter.

Sam Twiston-Davies takes the ride, another positive having won twice on him in four starts. At 10/1 (Boylesports) he looks the best bet.
