Grendisar Back To His Best

Grendisar Back To His Best

Ran a blistering 21.57s sectional last month and granted a stronger pace he should win.

After a quiet start to the season Grendisar was back to his best when runner-up in the Churchill Stakes last month.

The 5-year-old can count himself unlucky the way the race panned out. Held-up in midfield, he didn’t get the strong pace he needs as the leaders set a pedestrian pace (110.3% finishing speed).

Turning for home, Grendisar was in a hopeless position but showed a devastating turn of foot to run the final 2f in an eye-wateringly fast 21.57s. It wasn’t enough to reel in the prominently ridden Let’s Go but it was a big return to form.

To put his closing sectional into context, he was faster than all bar one of the 6f sprinters that ran in the Listed contest 35 minutes earlier.

Having Adam Kirby on board seems to make a big difference as together their record on the all-weather is 21212112.

Grendisar won this race 12 months ago and now he’s back to his best, he can retain his title.
