Coral Cup Tips: First Fandango

Form boosted by Rock On Ruby winning the Champion Hurdle and step up in trip will suit.

There are 28 runners in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham (4.00 Wed) and you could make a case for all of them. To make sure this tip doesn’t rival War and Peace in length, I’m concentrating on just one – First Fandango.

His form took a significant boost with Rock On Ruby winning the Champion Hurdle; he finished fourth, 17.5 lengths behind him at Newbury on his last start. That race is starting to work out particularly well as the horse that came in third that day, Raya Star, went on to win the valuable Ladbroke Hurdle.

Having stepped up in trip, First Fandango now returns to a more suitable 2m5f, where he has finished first and second on his last two starts. Only five-years-old, there should be plenty more to come and at 33/1 he looks a cracking each-way bet with Bet365 paying ¼ odds for a top five finish.
