Champion Hurdle: (3.20 Tue) Latest Odds

We review the chances of the main protagonists in the Champion Hurdle.

Hurricane Fly – evens (Paddy Power)
The defending champion didn’t start his season until 29 January but made up for lost time with a fine win in the Irish Champion Hurdle. Has won 12 of his 14 starts over hurdles and tough to beat.

Binocular – 5/1 Stan James
Winner of the race in 2010 but hard to catch right since. Has nine lengths to make up on Hurricane Fly based on their last meeting at Punchestown in May 2011.

Zarkandar – 7/1 Paddy Power
Won the Triumph hurdle last year and an exciting prospect. Might find the race coming too soon after he made his seasonal reappearance at Newbury only 25 days ago.

Rock On Ruby – 10/1 Boylesports
Might have beaten Binocular if he hadn’t clattered the last hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day. They are closely matched on form despite Rock On Ruby being almost double Binocular’s price.

Best of the rest: The likes of Oscars Well, Overturn and Celestial Halo all look held on the best of their form. Zaidpour 33/1 (Boylesports) could be the dark horse, unbeaten so far this season.
