Champion Hurdle Tips: Arctic Fire

Arctic Fire underrated Champion Hurdler

Closely matched with Hurricane Fly and Jezki on Leopardstown form and the stiff track plays to his strengths.

At 3.20 we have a fascinating renewal of the Champion Hurdle and if all eight runners stand their ground we have some each-way value with bookmakers going ¼ odds for a top-3 finish.

Arctic Fire is the least heralded of the Willie Mullins trio but he shouldn’t be taken lightly.

He split Hurricane Fly and Jezki in the Irish Champion Hurdle and hasn’t looked out of place in Grade 1 company. If anything he has been slightly unlucky.

On two occasions at Leopardstown he has let Hurricane Fly and Jezki get first run, only to chase them down near the finish.

On sectional timings both performances deserve an upgrade and Cheltenham’s stiffer track could see the leaders coming back to him sooner.

Last season he finished a close second in the County Hurdle and at 18/1 (Betfred) there is every chance he runs into a place.
