Ascot Tips: Lighting Moon
Incredibly lightly raced and taking a big step up in class but the speed figure he earned at Haydock marks him out as Group-class.
The 3.15 Ascot is a good quality sprint but the favourite Tropics must be opposed.
He finished last season looking like a world-beater but despite finishing second in the July Cup and winning a Listed contest on my figures he has regressed at least two or three lengths.
Lightning Moon is a horse going in the opposite direction and deserves a small investment at 12/1 (BetVictor).
Ed Walker’s colt has only raced twice but his victory at Haydock was so impressive he deserves to take his chance.
In winning at Haydock, the 3-year-old earned a speed figure that was bordering a Group 1 according to my ratings and given his profile there is probably more to come.
After 126 days off the track, not only will he be fresh but he’s probably matured physically. He is a very exciting prospect.
