Ascot Tips: Heeraat

Forgive his Haydock run where something was amiss because he has top class sprint form to his name.

I was happy to back Heeraat for the Group 1 Betfred Sprint Cup last month and the same logic holds for this easier Group 3 contest.

William Haggas’s 4-year-old has been mixing it with some of the best sprinters in Europe this season, twice finishing within 3.25 lengths of the top-class Sole Power.

Recently stepped up in trip he looks even better. His trainer remarked that Heeraat is forced to go flat out over 5f but is able to distribute his energy more evenly over 6f.

This was evident when he won the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes two starts back, holding off the useful Hamza after making all the running.

The big problem is forgiving his flop at Haydock last time out, but the way he was quickly eased up suggests something went wrong with the horse; a 21-length defeat can’t have been his true running.

Twice a winner on good to soft ground he should handle conditions and at 10/1 (BetVictor) he is value to confirm his class in the 3.15 Ascot.
