Zurich Classic of New Orleans Tips: Greg Chalmers

Finished top-ten on his last two visits to TPC Louisiana. Was T6 going into the final round at the Texas Open last weekend.

The betting market for the Zurich Classic is weighted towards the big names, as most golf events are, but it is a struggle to make a strong case for any of them. It is not until we get into the 66/1 bracket that we start to find value, in what is essentially a wide-open tournament.

Greg Chalmers enjoyed a particularly productive winter, winning twice in Australia to take the Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. At 38-years-old, he is in his golfing prime and I expect him to recreate that form on the PGA Tour very soon.

Recent signs are encouraging. He has four top-25 finishes this season and last week at the Valero Texas Open he positioned himself to go on the attack on Sunday. Starting the day in sixth, his final round did not go to plan. He closed with a 78, dropping him down to T35.

Overall, the signs were positive; he played well enough on the first three days to suggest his time is close. A return to TPC Louisiana should bring back positive memories. He’s enjoyed some excellent results in the recent past, with two top-10 finishes in the last two years.

At 66/1 (Betfred) the globe-trotting Chalmers rates a cracking bet at one of his favourite venues. Back him each-way with ¼ odds for a top-five finish.
